Mrs Elizabeth Day was received by the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis at the Federal Palace in Bern on 22 November 2022 for the presentation of her credentials as Australia’s new Ambassador to Switzerland. She will also be accredited to Liechtenstein.
Mrs Day is the first Ambassador to serve in the newly established Embassy in Bern.
Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Penny Wong said the opening of an Australian Embassy in Bern is a significant milestone in the country’s bilateral relationship with Switzerland. “It is testament to our enduring relationship and close cooperation for over 60 years,” she said.
