Good news for the internationally mobile Swiss! Cantons Lucerne and Neuchâtel are set to offer e-voting to their citizens abroad now as well, in addition to the cantons St. Gallen, Thurgau, Basel Stadt and Graubünden.
A step that reflects the many efforts, over many years, to strengthen the political rights of Swiss abroad. For many Swiss abroad, especially those living overseas, e-voting is the key to reliably exercising their democratic rights - postal delays too often mean ballots arrive too late. E-voting secures their vote with just a click: simple, safe, direct.
Lucerne: Rolling out from September. If you're on the Lucerne voter roll, documents will be sent automatically - no separate registration needed.
Neuchâtel: Expected to follow in November. Important: you must register once for e-voting to use this channel - best to do it early so you're ready in time.
Full details and Neuchâtel registration link are available on the website of the Organisation of the Swiss Abroad.
